Final Post of the Weekend - Inspired by My Pending Summer Holiday!

So this card is working with the colours of my last card...Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Yellow and Olive Green.  They just shout SUMMER to me which is the theme over on the Allsorts Challenge!

I've made this user Summer Silhouettes with a greeting from Flower Patch stamp sets, both from Stampin' Up!  The photo has a lovely shadow cast from my blind that I hope you can ignore!

I was going for another one-layer card so I made a clear line across the card with Post-Its and started stamping my flowers and foliage.  I added the stems, blended the green around the bottom of the leaves and added the greeting.....using an acrylic block I'd just cleaned....and left a splodge just below the sentiment, hence the carefully placed butterfly from the Beautiful Wings Sizzlits :-)

This is a close up of the flowers, finished with a touch of glamour dust (as usual). So, as the card was no longer one layer, I cut it down, matted it to Real Red before sticking to a card blank.

Now here's the question:  What does One-Layer mean to you?

Does it allow for embellishments, matting and glitter or is it as the name suggest strictly ONE-LAYER?

I'd be interested to know what you think :-)

In the meantime, I'm also entering this in to the following challenges:
Little Tangles  {Birthday}
Addicted to Stamping  {Anything Goes}
My Time To Craft  {Recipe: 1 Die Cut (Butterfly), 2 Images (Flowers and Leaves), 3 Flowers (3 Red ones, 3 yellow ones) }

Thanks for looking.  Feel free to leave me a link in my comments to visit your pages!

One Layer Madness

Inspired by Less is More yesterday I've been making more one layer cards this weekend....and just before the light dies, I've managed to get (hopefully) decent pictures.

This card is for the One Layer Simplicity Challenge: Strip Down! Yes!  I've been crafting in my underwear :-)  Not really!

The challenge is to create a strip down the side of the card.  I masked my strip with Post-Its and then used the flowers and leaves from Garden in Bloom (masking those where necessary) to create a pretty pattern on the left side.  I added the greeting and the butterfly (also from Garden in Bloom) to finish it off...not forgetting scribbling liquid pearls in the centre of the flowers.

I'm also entering this in to the following challenges:
CAS-ual Fridays   {Pretty Patterns}
Addicted to Stamping  {Anything goes}

From One Pixie to Another

So while I was making my card for Less is More, my daughter, Annie (8) was busy making some little cards for her friends to say farewell while we go on holiday.  Since I was introduced to the Pixie's Crafty Workshop last week, I think they'll be perfect for Di's challenge to make a card with snippets.

So over to Annie:

"Today I made cards without bugging my mum.  They are for my best friends, Evie and Charlotte.  Charlotte lives next door so I play with her more, and Evie is my bestest friend in the whole entire world.

I've made my cards using pink and turquoise card and little punches from my mum's cupboard (sssh! don't tell her!).  Here they are:

 This one is my favourite.  I added pollen using pearl glitter stuff.

Mum says I can start my own blog....so I'm looking for blog names.

These are some of my blog ideas:

Butterfly Mayhem
Pixie Dust
Singing Flowers
Purple Leaf
Craft to the Rescue

Do you have any ideas?  I'd love to hear them.

Thanks for looking.  I hope you like my cards.

love Annie xx "

Isn't she cute!  She's my card designer and inspiration.  So proud of her :-)

Winter Wonderland!

So just about to go on my summer holidays....seems a little strange to be thinking of Christmas!

But perusing through the blogs tonight I've stumbled on the Winter Wonderland Challenge.  I've done the Christmas in July challenges, but this blog is strictly Christmas all year round to help us all avoid that last minute rush at the end of November.  Sheer genius!

This week they're looking for Christmas Carols and Songs,  I've gone with "When Santa got Stuck up the Chimney!"

I've used Real Red for the mat and coloured Santa to match.  I've also used my new Tombow glue from Stampin' Up to give the snow and suit trimmings some real dimension!

Winter Wonderland is definitely on my regular blog hop now.

I'm also entering this in the following challenges:

Pals Paper Arts Colour Challenge

Afternoon!

The last thing any of us want to do on a weekend is rush about.  We're going on holiday in 9 days!  9 DAYS!  The house is a mess, there's washing to do and holiday shopping to be done...but I just wanna make cards!  Meh!  There's always lunchtimes next week :-)

So I've spent the last hour or so making a card for Pals Paper Arts:

And here it is:

I've used the World of Dreams and Gorgeous Grunge stamps sets from Stampin' Up and the Butterfly thinlets.  I masked a circle and sponged a background with Pool Party.  I then stamped the leaves in Mint Macaron and added some grunge in Tip Top Taupe.  I punched and inked flowers out of whisper white and added the butterfly on top.

Here's a close up of the butterfly showing the finishing touches of liquid pearls.

Very happy with the result :-)

I'm also entering this in the following challenges:

Toptip Tuesday  {Ribbon and Pearls} - I've entered this challenge a few times over the years...it's a shame to see it close after 5 years but I wish Samatha and the Design Team all the best :-)

Papertake Weekly  {Anything Goes!}

Fab N Funky Challenge  {No Patterned Paper}
